Knit Shop is an independent knit factory bridging the gap between design, industry and education.

Its purpose is to share skills, encourage innovation, and to invest in the regeneration of the Scottish textile industry. Offering a comprehensive consultancy, design and manufacture service, clients can work alongside our accomplished in-house design team to develop their own products and be guided through the computer-aided design and production processes by our experienced technicians.

With three state-of-the-art Shima Seiki knitting machines on-site, Knit Shop is equipped to offer sampling and to produce a variety of knitted products at scale. From fully fashioned knitwear, to accessories and homewares, the possibilities afforded by yarn and knit are endless.

Education and the development of skills are at the heart of Knit Shop. We’re committed to developing partnerships with local colleges and universities, enabling their students to design and manufacture their own textile products, gain practical industry experience and equip them with the skills to start their own businesses.

Our simple, transparent pricing is designed to be accessible to a wide range of customers, from students and small independent designers, to architects, artists and big business alike.

Knit Shop has already produced bespoke commissions for Scottish whisky brand Glenmorangie, Parisian department store Merci and developed a retail partnership with local cultural highlight V&A Dundee – Donna designed their Selkie Seal mascot – as well as manufacturing the majority of Donna Wilson’s knitted homeware, fashion and accessories collections in 2020.
